Thursday – Writing Tips Day
Today is a tip on what to do when you have finished your writing. This is for those of you who are interested in getting a publisher or agent.
Check out the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook. It lists all agents and publishers, tells you what genres they’re looking for, who to contact and how they like to receive submissions. Some like a query letter first, many like query letter with one page synopsis and first three chapters. Check before you send!
Check the agent/pubisher’s website to make sure you’re sending the manuscript how they want it.
Don’t use paperclips or staples. Make sure your manuscript is double spaced with a title page.
Search the internet for how to write a submission letter and synopsis to get tips on how to make them the most professional. If you don’t seem professional from your letter, they aren’t likely to read the first few chapters of your book. Lots of people have been through this anguish. Take their knowledge with open arms.
Before you send your manuscript off, think about hiring an editor to look at your work. Agents and publishers receive hundreds of submissions. Make sure yours is the best it can be.
Happy Thursday and happy writing! Liane x
