Thursday – Writing Tips Day

Today let’s look at rhythm in the words. Whether you’re writing a song, a poem or a story, the rhythm of the words can make the difference between gripping the audience or just telling them something you want to say.

The best way to ensure your words have a good rhythm is to record them and listen. What sounds stilted or false? You’re looking for natural. Didn’t often sounds better than did not and the word that  is vastly overused. Write a few sentences and record them and see what you can tweak, delete and rearrange to enhance the rhythm of the story you’re telling. Prepare to be amazed :)

  Happy writing! Liane x
