Wednesday – Help Yourself Day
March 14th, 2012
Hey, it’s me, Teal. How are you? Oh my gosh, it’s so exciting to be back with you. Yippee. So I’ve got this great thing for you to have fun with on Help Yourself Day.
I’ve started this new thing where, when I leave the cave every day, I say thank you to everything I see. I don’t say it out loud. People think I’m crazy enough as it is! I step on the red sandy path and say “thank you”. I look out on the purple fields and lilac mountains and say “thank you”.
I don’t always remember to do it. When I do I feel great. It makes me appreciate what’s around me, it’s like I’ve got a grin on the inside. Give it a go. Happy Wednesday!

Yo, yo, yo. Freddie’s in the house. What’s up? Waiting for more creative ideas to get your brain engine revving? Let’s go.
You open your eyes, feel like needles are in your back. You sit up and see you’ve been asleep on a hedgehog! How did it get in your bed? Why is it pink?
What happens next? Over to you, guys. Happy Tuesday! Freddie xx

Hi everyone. Time to tell you what I’ve been up to this week.
Thanks to Ryan, James, Hollie and everyone else who’ve reminded me I’ve been missing my Friday blog!
I’ve been working on the elevator pitch for a novel.
I’ve been tweaking the final editing of above novel. Woohoo. It’s so flipping exciting.
I’ve had some great advice and help from the lovely Caroline that I’ve been devouring. Thank you so much.
So I’m patting myself on the back for a week well done. What have you been up to this week? You have? Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back. Happy Friday! Liane x

Do you find the thought of writing a story daunting? How about something shorter? Going for a brisk walk or a run can recharge your batteries. I know it sounds weird. It works.
In THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA Freddie Maya performs a few raps. Write four to six lines of rap or a song about your favourite hobby or your favourite person. Say it or sing it aloud and keep the fun in your writing!
Happy Thursday! Liane x

When I’m tired or think I can’t do something, I sometimes avoid it like mad. When I had to rewrite a scene in THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA, I worried I couldn’t do it so walked away for a bit until I had the confidence to do it.
Well, thanks to my amazing coach, Charrise McCrorey, I’ve now discovered what really stops me: resistance. It’s within us all yet isn’t actually us. Get it? Hee hee. So it’s like the dragon you have to fight every day. You can do it. You have all the shields and swords you need. He never dies this dragon so be prepared to rebattle. She’s also introduced me to the amazing books by Steven Pressfield. Wow, what a guy.
YOU have the power to achieve, to make everything you do fun. Tap into that power.
Happy Wednesday! Liane x

You’re stretched out on the bed, your ankles crossed and head resting on your clasped hands. You feel a tug on your heel. What happens next?
Over to you, guys. Happy Tuesday. Freddie xx

One of the best ways to make sure your readers will love your story as much as you do is to write about what you love.
So what do you love? Write a scene about it. Show your reactions or the reactions of your characters. Use taste, touch, smell and sound to enhance the drama, and let the reader join in the fun. Let the magic unfurl beneath your fingers.

I’ve had great feedback saying THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA has made you happy and the characters have made you laugh. Thank you. It’s so great to hear. Laughter is so good for us.
Treat yourself and do something that makes you laugh today. Read a funny scene from a book or comic. Watch a funny film. Listen or watch a comedian who makes you laugh. Be tickled. Make funny faces at yourself. Watch a funny clip on youtube. Make your life full of laughter. Have fun.
Happy Wednesday! Liane x

Make sure you send your manuscript to agents and publishers only when you know it’s the best it can be. If you aren’t confident about your grammar, pay someone to check it for you. If you take the time and money to invest in an editor, you’ll bring out the best in your writing. The editor can make pointers and tips to show you where you need to strengthen your manuscript.
I’ve worked with both The Editorial Department and Cornerstones and both helped me shape THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA.
Know the rules of sending off a submission: No paperclips, no plastic wallets, enclose an SAE, and ensure you read the agent or publisher’s requirement’s on their website. Be professional and respectful. They’re busy people who you hope to be working with in the future.
Good luck and happy writing!
