Tuesday – Creative Flow and Ideas Day

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Yeah, it’s Freddie. Did you miss me, man? Well I’m back to help get those creative juices flowing. Ready to write a story?

So it’s New Years Eve and you’ve been invited to a party. The invitation says it’s on the moon and gives your friend’s address and a time to take the rocket. You think it’s a joke. But when you turn the corner into your friend’s road, you stare up at the rocket’s nose above the trees. You run to your friend’s house and no one’s there. No humans that is.

Why? Over to you, guys. Happy Tuesday! Freddie xx

Thursday – Writing Tips Day

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

Do you find the thought of writing a story daunting? How about something shorter? Going for a brisk walk or a run can recharge your batteries. I know it sounds weird. It works.

In THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA Freddie Maya performs a few raps. Write four to six lines of rap or a song about your favourite hobby or your favourite person. Say it or sing it aloud and keep the fun in your writing!

Wednesday – Help Yourself Day

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

When I’m tired or think I can’t do something, I sometimes avoid it like mad. When I had to rewrite a scene in THE CHRONICLES OF JOYA, I worried I couldn’t do it so walked away for a bit until I had the confidence to do it.

A lot of the time what stop us are just thoughts. So let them come and be aware of them. Then decide to say no, thank you to those thoughts that don’t serve you and choose a new one.

YOU have the power to achieve, to make everything you do fun. Tap into that power.

You lean forward on your bike and it doubles its speed. You straighten and it lifts off the ground.

Thursday – Writing Tips Day

Thursday, September 18th, 2014

One of the best ways to make sure your readers will love your story as much as you do is to write about what you love.

So what do you love? Write a scene about it. Show your reactions or the reactions of your characters. Use taste, touch, smell and sound to enhance the drama, and let the reader join in the fun. Let the magic unfurl beneath your fingers. :)

Wednesday – Help Yourself Day

Wednesday, September 17th, 2014

I’ve had great feedback saying my books have made you happy and the characters have made you laugh.  Thank you.

Treat yourself and do something that makes you laugh today. Read a funny scene from a book or comic. Watch a funny film. Listen or watch a comedian who makes you laugh. Be tickled. Make funny faces at yourself. Watch a funny clip on youtube. Make your life full of laughter. Have fun. :)

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Yo, yo, yo. Freddie’s in the house. What’s up? Waiting for more creative ideas to get your brain engine revving? Let’s go.

You open your eyes, feel like needles are in your back. You sit up and see you’ve been asleep on a hedgehog! How did it get in your bed? Why is it green?

What happens next? Over to you, guys.  Happy Tuesday! Freddie xx

Thursday – Writing Tips Day

Thursday, September 11th, 2014

Make sure you send your manuscript to agents and publishers only when you know it’s the best it can be. If you aren’t confident about your grammar, pay someone to check it for you. If you take the time and money to invest in an editor, you’ll bring out the best in your writing. The editor can make pointers and tips to show you where you need to strengthen your manuscript.

Know the rules of sending off a submission: No paperclips, no plastic wallets, enclose an SAE, and ensure you read the agent or publisher’s requirement’s on their website. Be professional and respectful. They’re busy people who you hope to be working with in the future.

    Good luck and happy writing!

Wednesday – Help Yourself Day

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014

Thank you for all your wonderful emails about how much you love the books.

One of the best ways we can help ourselves is by the way we think.  If we think bad thoughts, life can stink. If we think good thoughts, it can feel good.

So just for today, see the funny side in everything. If someone is shouting at you, imagine they have a voice like Donald Duck. If someone hurts you, imagine you’re Kung Fu Panda and the pain just bounces off your tummy and makes you giggle. Remember, you control your life so choose to have fun with it today.
